A review of the GMS course
As the course is now (almost) over, I decided to share some of my opinions and thoughts. I have no doubt that this course was useful to me and I learned some useful skills. I do however think that the course should be renamed to something like "Entrepreneurship and Leadership skills". I enrolled in this class hoping to learn about manufacturing strategies employed by global corporations and organizations and how they maintained a competitive edge by employing innovative strategies. I was hoping for case studies from the business world. Having said that, I must confess that I was a bit disappointed when the course didn't steer in that direction in the beginning. But over time I realized that there was much to be learned from this experience in terms of group dynamics, idea generation, presentations skills, entrepreneurship and teamwork.
I admittedly haven't been as active on Toyhouse relative to my involvement with other parts of the course. But I would definitely recommend this course to the incoming batch of students, but with the suggestion that the contents of the course be advertised more clearly for those choosing it.

Great comment! I think I should definitely provide some more content in that direction. There are many well-known books and case studies. However, learning the latest strategies for global firms are usually based on historical cases. As the Internet and the Open Source Community develop at an incredible speed, we clearly spent more time having you guys developing strategies for yourselves. I agree with the fact that the name of the course should be more explicit. Our strategy is geared toward the Open Source Community. Therefore, we should advertise the course at least with a subtitle, saying that is has a strong emphasis in the emerging opportunities.
Having said that, I also want to note that Entrepreneurship and Leadership development have some other emphasis. There are also other courses dedicated to just that. I am open to your suggestion. But, I am leaning toward renaming the course with a subtitle: Global Manufacturing Strategy: in the era of networked economy.
You are welcome to suggest some other names.
